Puppy Profile Blade

Blade is one of my regulars and has been for quite a while now.

He is very entertaining and certainly loves to play.

I would have loved to have uploadeda photo here but the sad demise of my laptop means that it wll have to wait a little while longer. He is in the gallery though so please check him out there.

anyway here's what hie humans have to say about Blade:

1. Age?  He was 4 in December
 2. Breed(s)?  He's a Bitser, His mum was a rottweiler, and his dad was a cross bull mastiff/ridgeback
 3. How did you come to be his humans?
Aaron had been wanting a dog for a while and when we found him in the paper he had the same birth date as Aaron, so it was meant to be.
 4. Best traits? He's very happy, loving, loyal dog.  He just loves people....
 5. Worst habits?  He likes to dig sometimes.  His nickname is Houdini, he has escaped the back yard a few times.
 6. Favourite thing (toy or thing to do)?  He loves chasing balls or sticks, and loves swimming.
 7. Can you recount an interesting/funny thing that happened that  involved you and Blade?  We have taken Blade to the beach a couple of times, he loves running along the beach chasing balls and the waves, he gets a little confused when he's punctured his ball and it sinks, he looks funny bobbing his head all the way under trying to find his precious ball, he won't give up until he finds it...

SuperScooper Price Rise

Hi Everyone,

This is just a short message to inform you all that the company behing the fabulous SuperScoper horse poo collection trailer have undertaken a review into there pricing structure and marketing communications.

As a result, the SuperScooper retail price has been set at $890.00. This is still below the original pricing of the trailer and represents pretty good value when you consider the saving in time and effort that it brings about, not to mention the step up in costs required to move into the powered vaccuum cleaner (paddock) market.

Happy Scooping

Simon

Puppy Profile - FLOYD

Welcome to our first puppy profile!

Today you'll meet Floyd who is a very happy fellow that I have the privilege to work with on a Friday.

I  thought answers to the following questions might be a fun way for us to get to know him:

1. How old is Floyd?

One and a half

2. What type of dog is he?

   Beagle Jack Russell cross

3. How did you come to be his humans?

The kids had been wanting a dog for some time and we happened to see a cute photo of him as a puppy in the paper.  We fell immediately in love.

4. What do you think his best traits are?

Very loving and great with the kids.  He loves a cuddle.

5. What are his worst habits?

Doing damage outside.  He loves to chew things and dig, although we have just recently had him desexed and he has settled down a lot since then.

6. What is his favourite thing (toy or thing) to do?

He has a bone chew toy and a stuffed camel which we keep inside for him.  As soon as he's let in he'll grab one and do excited laps of the house before settling down.  He loves walking and sticking his head out of the car window on trips.  He has dog cousins, a Maremma sheepdog and Bull Arab cross, which he tears around with every Friday night when we have a family dinner.

7. Can you recount an interesting/funny thing that happened involving you and Floyd?

The first summer we had him we grew tomatoes in a big pot outside.  When they were finished for the season Floyd decided to dig them out and make the pot a great place for sunbaking.  We'd often come home and find him asleep in the pot.  He looked hilarious in it with his head hanging over the side dozing in the sun.

A big thanks goes out to Floyd's humans for sharing some of his story with us. Stay tuned for another puppy profile soon.

What is your time worth?

If I were to give you a block of 12 hours to do anything you wanted to do, what would you do?

I ask this as I've just been to an ActionCoach training session where the discussion touched upon leverage and the value of time and I worked out that I usually free up (directly) 12 or more hours of my clients time per year. I also prevent them from spending additional time and money cleaning shoes, carpets (car and hosehold) and lawnmowers and reduce their need to be exposed to a stinky and potentially infectious substance. Of course this all relates to an absolute responsibility for pet owners to provide a suitable environment for their pets and everyone else that shares space with them.

So would you use that time to earn more money, spend it with your family, or simply take some 'me' time?

Imagine the possibilities and think about how would you make the most of it?

The joys of dry dog poo!

Well the bags are lighter, the poo is easier to scoop (or in somecases chip and put) and the flys (as well as their babies) are working overtime to help me out.

This last couple of weeks (since the downpour) have been great. The dry weather really does make a difference. The biggest trouble is still the amazing growth that everyones grass is experiencing. I am hoping that everyone will be able to sneak out and fit a quick mow in before the next deluge over the weekend.

You may also have noticed the increase in spider numbers this year. For me there is only one downside to this and that is all of the webs that I have been inadvertently walking through as my head is down hunting those little puppy gems. There is nothing quite as exciting as that silky stretchy feeling across your forehead and eyes when you're not expecting it. Hopefully there will be a new fashion in spiderweb head adornements beginning soon so I can be 'way cool' for a little while.

Anyway, to bid you farewell I would like to say, 'have fun with your animals while the weather is warm, make sure they have lots of water and shade and tell all of your friends of the entertainment and decorations that keep your poop scooper amused.'

Kind regards

Simon

Wet and wild in 2011

What an amazing start to the year with more water than we ever thought possible after so many years of drought. After reading the following article I have attempted to minimise any cancellations due to the weather however some reschedulling has been necessary with some of the yards I work on being largely underwater.

http://www.stormwatercenter.net/Pollution_Prevention_Factsheets/AnimalWasteCollection.htm

The primary purpose for this post is simply  to extend my well wishes to all those that are struggling with the various impacts resulting from the incredible deluge that much of eastern Australia has experienced. The media coverage has been nothing short of heart breaking and I've really hung out for the occassional good news or "miracle" stories that pop up from time to time.

New Years Resolutions

As the New Year comes towards us at a rate of knots I thought I'd take some time to let you all in on a few of my resolutions for next year.

You might expect that I will be looking for an increase in my client base, and that would be a fair assumption. I would love to see 40 poop scooping clients on the books at the end of 2011. The work I have been doing with some local Vet practrices is starting to bear some fruit, with a new client to start on the 2nd of January, so we are off to a good start there.

In addition to that, I hope to develop some educational materials around minimising landfill by processing organic waste from home and get involved in the the school market with the wonderful Worms Down Under worm farms. I have had a couple of enquiries for next year already so again, things are looking promising.

The third area that I'd like to share with you is the continued development of a range of products for the e-shop. Things are progressing well with several new suppliers expressing a willingness to work with me throughout 2011. If you have any great ideas for products that you would like to see me stock, please get in touch and let me know.

I hope your resolutions are coming along well!

Happy New Year!

Extended Spring!

It seems we haven't quite made it to Summer yet! Yes I know it's moved past December the 1st but the conditions remain Spring like. As a result I have found myself battling through luscious grasses and weeds for an extended period while providing your poop scooping service.

For those of you with grass that is a little on the long side, I want you to know that I am doing my best but cannot guarantee that there aren't a few sneaky ones hiding down below. I can't scoop 'em if I can't see 'em.

If I don't get an extra post in before Christmas.... have a good one! If I do, I'll write at you then.

Kind regards

the rePOOvalist

It is fun building a website - who would have thought?

Well it's been a long-time coming!

When are you getting a real website? Was a question often asked. When I can afford one was the answer.

They were right though, I had to do something! So, here is the result of a bit of asking around, less than $70.00 AUD, a few hours playing on the computer and putting my ego away to let the kids give me some constructive advice.

At the time of writing I haven't yet done what they call a CNAME request through my own domain manager so I can replace the current splash page with this one, but once I finish hooking up the shop to Paypal (hopefully next week), I will do that, as well as trying out some of the web optimization tricks.

Surprisingly the whole process has been remarkably painless, in fact I hesitate to say it, but it's been rather enjoyable.  So thanks for waiting for so long for me and I hope you enjoy the site. I'll even go out on a limb and suggest that if you are looking to set up a budget website, let me know, maybe I can help.

Kind regards

The rePOOvalist

Pre-Christmas Rush

Pre-Christmas Rush

Hi Everyone,

Hopefully all your Christmas plans are coming together.
Mine are going well although I think there will be a bit of last minute rushing around to get everything that needs to be done, done.

Interestingly, most of the people who choose to use the rePOOvalist are just regular people who live really busy lives and the rePOOvalist is always keen to try and help as much as possible. Therefore, please keep in mind that I am available to head out to your place to feed your dog over the holiday period (starting from $12.50 per day) as long as the dates don't coincide with my own holiday calendar. All it takes is asking the question and if the dates work, I am happy to save you paying the kennel fees and keep your dogs happy in their own territory.

As many of you are aware, I am also branching out into a range of retail products. Worm farms are a great way to process your pet poo into something that your gardens will love. Of course worms also process other organic waste and with a little education, you could be reducing your impact on landfill sites by up to 40%. If you just can't decide what to buy the person who has everything, why not consider a worm farm. I also have biodegradeable dog poo bags and the Super Scooper horse poo collection trailer. On numerous occasions I have been asked if I clean up after babies, the answer is no, but, I did have a great chat with a composting toilet importer who has a product or two that I may be able to add to my list. I couldn't believe how clever and stylish they are and as a result of removing the wee from the system (used as fertilizer in Europe and Asia), that horrible sulphur smell is also removed. If you have a weekender, caravan, or even a tent, I can probably access a product to help you easily deal with the inevitable problem of people waste (Merry Christmas).

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful silly season and I'll be in touch if we need to juggle your appointments a little. All the best and I hope Santa brings you something special!

Kind regards
Simon
